1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Bubbles mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Bubbles ("we", "our", or "us").
2. Description of Service
Bubbles is a peer-to-peer marketplace platform that enables users to:
- Share and borrow spaces and resources within trusted communities
- Create private or public communities ("Bubbles")
- Communicate with other users
- Make and manage booking requests
- Enter into rental agreements with other users
- Build reputation through completed transactions
3. Eligibility
Age Requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to use the App. This is a strict requirement.
Identity Verification Requirement
MANDATORY: All users must complete identity verification through our third-party verification service (Didit) before accessing the App. This requirement cannot be waived.
The verification process includes:
- Uploading a valid government-issued ID (driver's license, passport, or state ID)
- Completing a video selfie for liveness detection
- Passing age verification to confirm you are 18 years or older
- Allowing extraction of your legal name for use in binding rental agreements
Verification Limits:
- You have up to 10 attempts to complete verification
- After 10 failed attempts, you must wait 1 hour before trying again
- Repeatedly failing verification may result in permanent account suspension
Consequences of Failed Verification:
- You will not be able to access any features of the App
- Your account will remain inactive until verification is completed
By using the App, you represent and warrant that:
- You are at least 18 years old
- You have the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements
- You will provide truthful and accurate information during verification
- Your government ID is valid and belongs to you
4. Account Registration
Account Creation
To use the App, you must:
- Provide a valid email address
- Verify your email through a one-time password (OTP) code
- Complete mandatory identity verification (see Section 3)
- Create or accept a username
Account Security
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the security and confidentiality of your account
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately at support@bubblesapp.dev of any unauthorized use or security breach
You must NOT:
- Share your account credentials with others
- Allow others to access your account
- Create multiple accounts
- Create an account on behalf of another person
- Use another person's ID for verification
Account Suspension and Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account immediately, without prior notice, if:
- You violate these Terms
- You engage in fraudulent activity
- You pose a safety risk to other users
- You fail identity verification
- You accumulate excessive disputes
- You are reported for prohibited conduct
- We determine, in our sole discretion, that termination is necessary
5. User Conduct
Prohibited Activities
You agree NOT to:
Fraudulent Conduct:
- Post false, misleading, or fraudulent content
- Misrepresent items, spaces, or your identity
- Engage in scams or fraudulent transactions
- Use stolen or fake IDs for verification
Harmful Conduct:
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, or harm other users
- Engage in hate speech, discrimination, or bigotry
- Post violent or graphic content
- Endanger the safety of any person
Illegal Conduct:
- Violate any local, state, national, or international laws
- List or transact prohibited items (see Section 8)
- Use the App for money laundering or illegal financial activity
- Infringe on intellectual property rights
Platform Abuse:
- Interfere with the App's operation, security, or servers
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the App
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or hack the App
- Attempt to bypass identity verification or security measures
- Spam or send unsolicited messages
- Create fake listings or accounts
Misuse of Features:
- Impersonate another person, organization, or entity
- Use the App for unauthorized commercial purposes
- Attempt to circumvent fees (if implemented in the future)
- File false disputes or reports
- Manipulate reputation scores
- Use blocking features for harassment
6. Content Ownership and License
Your Content
Ownership: You retain ownership of all content you post, including:
- Photos of spaces and resources
- Descriptions and listings
- Posts and comments
- Messages
- Profile information
License Grant: By posting content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable license to:
- Use, display, reproduce, and distribute your content
- Modify your content (e.g., compress images, resize photos)
- Include your content in the App and promotional materials
- Allow other users to view your content according to your privacy settings
Your Responsibilities: You represent and warrant that:
- You own the rights to all content you post, or have permission to post it
- Your content does not violate any third-party rights (copyright, trademark, privacy, etc.)
- Your content complies with these Terms and applicable laws
Photos and Verification: By using the App, you agree that:
- Handoff verification photos (pickup and return) may be used to verify transaction completion
- Dispute evidence photos may be reviewed by our support team
- Photos may be used for safety, dispute resolution, and fraud prevention purposes
Our Content
Ownership: The App and all its content, features, and functionality are owned by Bubbles and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Restrictions: You may NOT:
- Copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from our content
- Use our trademarks, logos, or branding without written permission
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
- Frame, mirror, or otherwise incorporate the App into another service
7. Bubbles (Communities)
Private vs. Public Bubbles
Private Bubbles (Invite-Only):
- Accessible only to invited members
- Require at least 1 available space or resource
- Content visible only to members
- Free to create and maintain
Public Bubbles (Discoverable):
- Free to create and use
- Must maintain at least 50% item availability (half of listed items must be available for booking)
- Visible in discovery features but still require approval to join
- Subject to additional content moderation
Access Control Levels
Bubble creators can set access levels:
- Admin Access: Only admins can approve members and add items
- User Access: All members can add items, but admins approve new members
- Open Access: Anyone can join without approval
Bubble Membership
Joining Bubbles:
- Private bubbles: Requires an invite code
- Public bubbles: Request to join, subject to admin approval
- You agree to follow the bubble's specific rules and norms
Leaving Bubbles:
- You may leave a bubble at any time
- Your content in that bubble may be preserved for other members' context
Removal from Bubbles:
- Bubble admins may remove you from their bubble at any time
- You may lose access to that bubble's content and members
8. Listings (Spaces and Resources)
Creating Listings
When creating a listing, you must:
- Provide accurate descriptions
- Upload truthful photos
- Specify accurate availability
- Disclose any defects, damage, or important conditions
- Set reasonable expectations
Prohibited Items
You may NOT list:
- Illegal items or substances (drugs, weapons, explosives)
- Stolen or counterfeit goods
- Items you don't own or have permission to rent
- Dangerous or hazardous materials
- Live animals
- Items that violate export/import regulations
- Adult content or services
- Items whose rental would violate local regulations
Location Privacy
Spaces: You must provide an exact street address, which will be shared with approved guests.
Resources: Your location will be "fuzzed" (randomized by approximately ±300 meters) for privacy until you approve a booking request. The exact pickup location is shared only after approval.
Item Availability
- You must keep availability information up to date
- Public bubbles must maintain 50% availability
- Listing unavailable items may result in listing removal or account restrictions
9. Rental Agreements and Bookings
Booking Process
Making a Request:
- Guests/borrowers select dates and send a booking request
- Requests may include a message and time window preferences
- Requests expire if not responded to before the start date
Approving or Denying:
- Hosts/owners review requests and can approve or deny
- Denial does not require justification
- Approved bookings create binding rental obligations
Binding Rental Agreement
When you approve or accept a booking, you enter into a legally binding Rental Agreement with the other user.
Host/Owner Obligations:
- Make the item or space available as agreed
- Ensure the item is in the described condition
- Be available for check-in/pickup within the agreed time window
- Provide accurate handoff information
Guest/Borrower Obligations:
- Arrive for pickup within the agreed time window
- Use the item or space responsibly and as described
- Return the item in the same condition (normal wear and tear expected)
- Return the item on time within the agreed time window
- Report any damage immediately
Handoff Verification
Pickup:
- Host/owner may take a photo at pickup as a condition record
- Guest/borrower scans a QR code to confirm receipt
- Both parties should inspect the item together
Return:
- Guest/borrower may take a photo at return as a condition record
- Host/owner scans a QR code to confirm return
- Host/owner rates the condition of the returned item
Cancellation
By Guests/Borrowers:
- You may cancel a booking at any time before pickup
- Repeated cancellations may harm your reputation score
By Hosts/Owners:
- You may cancel a booking at any time before pickup
- Repeated cancellations may harm your reputation score and result in listing restrictions
After Pickup:
- Bookings cannot be cancelled after pickup begins
- Any issues must be resolved through the dispute process
10. Reputation and Scoring
Automated Reputation System
We automatically calculate reputation scores based on your completed bookings. These scores affect your ability to use the App.
Scores Calculated:
- Pickup Punctuality Score (0-100): Based on arriving on time for pickups
- Return Punctuality Score (0-100): Based on returning items on time
- Condition Score (0-100): Based on condition ratings from hosts/owners
- Composite Reputation Score (0-100): Weighted combination of all scores
- Completion Rate (%): Percentage of bookings completed without disputes
How Scores Affect You:
- Low scores may limit your ability to book items
- Low scores may discourage others from approving your requests
- Scores are visible on your public profile
- Scores cannot be hidden or disabled
Improving Scores:
- Complete bookings on time
- Return items in good condition
- Communicate clearly with other users
- Resolve disputes amicably
Disputing Scores:
- You may contact support@bubblesapp.dev to dispute incorrect scores
- File a dispute if you believe a condition rating is unfair
- Dispute resolutions may result in score adjustments
Booking Restrictions
Automatic Blocking:
- Users with unresolved disputes are automatically blocked from making new bookings
- Users with extremely low reputation scores may be blocked from certain features
- Users with repeated Terms violations may be permanently blocked
11. Disputes Between Users
Dispute Categories
You may file a dispute for:
- Not Returned: Item was not returned on time or at all
- Damage: Item was damaged beyond normal wear and tear
- Missing Items: Parts or accessories are missing
- Not as Described: Item or space was materially different from the listing
- Safety Issue: Safety concerns during the transaction
- Communication: Severe communication problems
- Other: Other significant issues
Dispute Process
Step 1: Direct Resolution
- First, attempt to resolve the issue directly with the other user
- Use the in-app messaging to communicate
Step 2: File a Dispute
- If direct resolution fails, file a dispute through the App
- Provide a detailed description of the issue
- Upload photo evidence (if applicable)
- Select the appropriate category
Step 3: Investigation
- Our team will review the dispute
- Both parties may be asked to provide additional information
- We may facilitate communication between parties
- Disputes may take several days to investigate
Step 4: Resolution
We will make a final determination based on the evidence
Possible outcomes:
- No Fault: No wrongdoing found, no action taken
- Warning Issued: User receives a warning
- Partial Resolution: Compromise solution
- Full Resolution: Complete resolution in favor of one party
- User Suspended: Temporary suspension from the App
- User Removed: Permanent account termination
Our Decision is Final:
- Dispute resolutions are binding on both parties
- We have sole discretion in determining outcomes
- You waive the right to challenge our dispute resolutions in court (subject to Section 20)
Dispute Consequences
- Disputes appear in your transaction history
- Excessive disputes will harm your reputation and may result in account termination
- Users who lose disputes may be required to compensate the other party (we will facilitate but not enforce)
- False or frivolous disputes may result in account suspension
12. Fees and Payments
Current Fee Structure
The App does NOT currently process payments or charge transaction fees.
- All bookings are currently free (no platform fees)
- All community features (private and public Bubbles) are free to use
- Payment arrangements, if any, are between users (outside the App)
- We are not responsible for payment disputes between users
Future Fees
If we implement fees in the future:
- We will provide advance notice (at least 30 days)
- You will have the option to accept the new fees or discontinue using the App
- Fee structures will be clearly disclosed
13. Privacy
Your use of the App is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
By using the App, you consent to:
- Our collection, use, and sharing of information as described in the Privacy Policy
- Mandatory identity verification through Didit
- Processing of your photos for handoff verification and disputes
- Automated reputation scoring based on your behavior
- Sharing your profile information with other users in your bubbles

14. User Safety and Content Moderation
Content Moderation
We reserve the right to:
- Review all user-generated content
- Remove content that violates these Terms
- Remove content reported by other users
- Use automated systems to detect prohibited content
- Moderate content without prior notice
Reportable Content:
- Spam or commercial solicitation
- Harassment or hate speech
- Inappropriate or adult content
- Violence or threats
- Illegal activity
- Scams or fraud
Reporting System
How to Report:
- Use the in-app reporting feature
- Select the content type (post, comment, user, message, listing)
- Choose a category (spam, harassment, inappropriate content, violence, hate speech, illegal, scam, other)
- Provide a description
What Happens After Reporting:
- Reports are reviewed by our team
- We may take action including content removal, user warnings, or account suspension
- You will be notified of the outcome
- False reports may result in penalties against the reporter
Blocking Users
You may block users to:
- Prevent them from seeing your profile, content, and listings
- Prevent them from sending you messages or booking requests
- Remove them from your view of the App
Blocking is bidirectional: The blocked user also cannot see your content.
15. Account Deletion
Requesting Deletion
You may delete your account at any time through App settings or by contacting support@bubblesapp.dev.
Deletion Process
Important: Account deletion uses "soft delete" (anonymization), NOT full data erasure.
What Gets Deleted:
- Your email address
- Your phone number (if provided)
- Your first name, last name, and profile picture
- Your push notification tokens
- Your bubble memberships
- Your owned listings
- Your favorites and private notes
What Gets Preserved (Anonymized as "Deleted User"):
- Your historical messages (for other users' context)
- Your historical posts and comments (for community context)
- Your completed booking records (for other users' transaction history)
- Dispute records (for legal and safety purposes)
Why We Preserve Data:
- To maintain the integrity of other users' transaction histories
- To preserve community conversations and context
- To comply with legal record-keeping requirements
- To prevent fraud and abuse
Restrictions on Deletion
You CANNOT delete your account if:
- You have active bookings as a guest/borrower
- You have active bookings as a host/owner
- You have unresolved disputes
You must complete or cancel all bookings and resolve all disputes before deleting your account.
16. Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including:
No Guarantee of Service Quality
- We do NOT guarantee the quality, safety, accuracy, or legality of items listed
- We do NOT verify the condition of items or spaces
- We do NOT inspect listings or conduct background checks beyond identity verification
- We are NOT responsible for the accuracy of user-provided information
No Guarantee of User Behavior
- We do NOT guarantee the conduct, performance, or reliability of any user
- We do NOT guarantee that other users will fulfill their obligations
- We are NOT responsible for interactions, disputes, or transactions between users
- Identity verification does NOT guarantee trustworthiness or safety
No Guarantee of Availability
- We do NOT guarantee the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or available at all times
- We may suspend or terminate the App at any time for maintenance or other reasons
- We are NOT responsible for data loss, service interruptions, or technical failures
No Guarantee of Outcomes
- We do NOT guarantee that dispute resolutions will be favorable to you
- We do NOT guarantee that using the App will result in successful transactions
- We are NOT responsible for missed opportunities or failed bookings
BY USING THE APP, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THESE RISKS AND AGREE TO USE THE APP AT YOUR OWN RISK.
17. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
Our Liability is Limited
We, our officers, directors, employees, and affiliates are NOT liable for:
Indirect Damages:
- Indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages
- Lost profits, revenue, or business opportunities
- Lost data or information
- Cost of substitute services
- Damage to reputation
- Emotional distress
Transactions Between Users:
- Damages arising from rental transactions between users
- Theft, damage, or loss of items
- Personal injury or property damage during transactions
- Breach of rental agreements by other users
- Disputes between users
Third-Party Actions:
- Actions of third-party service providers (Didit, Convex, Expo, etc.)
- Failures of identity verification services
- Data breaches by third parties
Maximum Liability
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to the App will NOT exceed the greater of:
- $100 USD, or
- The amount you paid us in the past 12 months (if applicable)
Basis of the Bargain
You acknowledge that these limitations of liability are a fundamental basis of our agreement, and that we would not provide the App without these limitations.
18. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Bubbles, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from or related to:
- Your use of the App
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any rights of another user or third party
- Content you post, including photos and listings
- Transactions you make with other users
- Your breach of rental agreements
- Your violation of any laws or regulations
- Your provision of false information during identity verification
- Disputes you are involved in
This indemnification obligation survives termination of your account and these Terms.
19. Termination
Termination by You
You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time (subject to the restrictions in Section 15).
Termination by Us
We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the App immediately, without prior notice, for:
Terms Violations:
- Violation of any provision of these Terms
- Violation of our Privacy Policy
- Violation of any applicable laws
Safety Concerns:
- Posing a safety risk to other users
- Engaging in fraudulent or illegal activity
- Threatening or harassing other users
Platform Abuse:
- Using automated systems or bots
- Creating multiple accounts or fake accounts
- Attempting to manipulate reputation scores
- Filing false disputes or reports
Other Reasons:
- Failure to complete identity verification
- Accumulating excessive disputes
- At our discretion for any other reason
Effects of Termination
Upon termination:
- Your access to the App will be revoked immediately
- You must cease all use of the App
- Your account data will be handled according to our deletion policy (see Section 15)
- You remain liable for any outstanding obligations
- Sections that by their nature should survive will continue to apply (e.g., indemnification, limitation of liability)
20. Dispute Resolution with Bubbles
This section governs disputes between you and Bubbles (not disputes between users, which are covered in Section 11).
Informal Resolution
Before filing any formal claim, you agree to:
- Contact us at support@bubblesapp.dev to describe the issue
- Attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days
- Provide us with a reasonable opportunity to address your concerns
Arbitration Agreement
If informal resolution fails, you and Bubbles agree to resolve disputes through binding arbitration.
Arbitration Means:
- Disputes will be resolved by a neutral arbitrator, not a judge or jury
- The arbitrator's decision is final and binding
- Arbitration procedures are simpler and faster than court litigation
- Discovery and appeal rights may be limited
Arbitration Rules:
- Arbitration will be conducted under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA)
- Arbitration will be held in a location convenient to you or via videoconference
- Each party will pay their own costs and fees, except we will pay the arbitrator's fees
- The arbitrator may award the same damages and relief as a court
Exceptions to Arbitration:
- Small claims court cases (under the jurisdictional limit)
- Injunctive relief to protect intellectual property rights
- Claims that cannot legally be arbitrated
Class Action Waiver
YOU AND BUBBLES AGREE TO BRING CLAIMS ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, NOT AS PART OF A CLASS ACTION OR COLLECTIVE ACTION.
You waive the right to:
- Participate in class action lawsuits against us
- Serve as a class representative
- Join your claim with claims of other users
- Pursue relief on behalf of others
If the class action waiver is found unenforceable, the arbitration agreement does not apply.
Opt-Out Right
You may opt out of the arbitration agreement by:
- Sending written notice to support@bubblesapp.dev within 30 days of accepting these Terms
- Including your name, email address, and a statement that you wish to opt out of arbitration
If you opt out, disputes will be resolved in court (see Section 21).
21. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
If you opt out of arbitration (Section 20), you agree:
- Any legal action must be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California
- You consent to the personal jurisdiction of these courts
- You waive any objection to venue in these courts
22. Modifications to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. When we make changes:
Notice:
- We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of these Terms
- We will notify you through the App, email, or a prominent notice
- For material changes, we will provide at least 30 days' notice
Your Options:
- Acceptance: Continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new Terms
- Rejection: If you do not agree to the new Terms, you must stop using the App and may delete your account
Binding Effect:
- The version of the Terms in effect at the time of your use governs your use
- Changes apply prospectively (to future use), not retroactively
23. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court or arbitrator:
- That provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable
- If modification is not possible, that provision will be severed from these Terms
- The remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect
- The invalid provision will not affect the validity of the remaining Terms
24. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with:
- Our Privacy Policy
- Any Rental Agreements you enter into with other users
- Any additional policies referenced herein
Constitute the entire agreement between you and Bubbles regarding your use of the App.
These Terms supersede:
- Any prior agreements or understandings (written or oral)
- Any conflicting terms in other communications
No Other Agreements:
- We are not bound by any additional terms unless agreed to in writing by an authorized Bubbles representative
- Customer support responses do not modify these Terms
25. Assignment
You may NOT:
- Transfer or assign your rights or obligations under these Terms
- Transfer your account to another person
We may:
- Transfer or assign our rights and obligations under these Terms
- Transfer occurs automatically in the event of a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or reorganization
- You will be notified of any such transfer
26. No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision or our right to enforce it in the future.
Any waiver must be in writing and signed by an authorized Bubbles representative.

28. Safety Guidelines
We strongly encourage you to follow these safety practices:
For In-Person Handoffs:
- Meet in public, well-lit places when possible
- Bring a friend or let someone know where you're going
- Inspect items carefully before accepting
- Document item condition with photos (the App facilitates this)
- Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, cancel the transaction
For Communication:
- Use the in-app messaging system for all transaction-related communication
- Never share financial information (bank accounts, credit cards) with other users
- Be wary of users who ask you to transact outside the App
- Report suspicious behavior immediately
For Your Privacy:
- Don't share personal information (home address, phone number) until you're comfortable
- Use the blocking feature if someone makes you uncomfortable
- Remember that your reputation scores are visible to others
We are NOT responsible for your safety, but we want you to use the App safely.
29. Intellectual Property Infringement
If you believe content on the App infringes your intellectual property rights (copyright, trademark, etc.), contact us immediately:

Include in Your Notice:
- Description of the copyrighted work or intellectual property
- URL or location of the infringing content on the App
- Your contact information (name, email, phone)
- A statement of good faith belief that the use is not authorized
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and you are the rights holder or authorized to act on behalf of the rights holder
- Your physical or electronic signature
We will investigate and take appropriate action, which may include removing the content.
False Claims: Filing false infringement claims may result in legal liability and account termination.
30. Additional Policies
User Content Policy
Acceptable Content:
- Accurate descriptions of spaces and resources
- Respectful communication with other users
- Photos that accurately represent listings
Prohibited Content:
- Sexually explicit or pornographic content
- Hate speech, discrimination, harassment, or bullying
- Violence, gore, or threats of violence
- Illegal drugs, weapons, or other prohibited items
- Stolen items or counterfeit goods
- Personal information of others (doxxing)
- Spam or unsolicited commercial solicitation
- Misleading, deceptive, or fraudulent content
Enforcement:
- We reserve the right to remove content that violates this policy
- Repeated violations may result in account suspension or termination
- Users can report inappropriate content through the in-app reporting system
Accessibility
We strive to make the App accessible to users with disabilities. If you experience accessibility issues, please contact us at support@bubblesapp.dev.
31. Acknowledgment and Acceptance
BY USING BUBBLES, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT:
- You have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service
- You have read and understood our Privacy Policy
- You are at least 18 years old
- You agree to complete mandatory identity verification
- You understand that we do not verify the quality, safety, or legality of items listed
- You understand that transactions are peer-to-peer and we are not a party to rental agreements
- You agree to use the App at your own risk
- You understand the limitations on our liability
- You agree to binding arbitration and waive the right to a jury trial and class actions (unless you opt out)
- You agree to indemnify us for claims arising from your use of the App
